Lioness - Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, Tanzania

From Photo Sanity

It was our first morning in the crater and unforuntately also our first "kill", the rest of the lion pride was busy devouring their prize and she was patiently waiting for her turn. Everyone in my photogroup was busy photographing the pride but it was too soon for me to be able to deal with the reality of the circle of life, so I decided to photograph this lioness instead. I guess she was low lion on the totem pole. I felt like we made a connection when we made eye contact but more likely she was trying to figure out how to take me down for her own breakfast.

Ngorongoro Crater Conservation area is a magical place close to the Serengeti and well worth the visit. We saw lion, hyena, wildebeest, serval, zebra, hippo, elephant and more.
