The Alaska Range - Denali National Park

From Photo Sanity

Early September 2000, We were staying deep inside Denali National Park (http://www.nps.gov/dena) at Kantishna Roadhouse(http://www.kantishnaroadhouse.com). It had been cloudy and overcast for the few days we were there and we had only seen the very top of Mt. McKinley a few times. Then on our last full day, it cleared up and there it was Mt. McKinley and the entire Alaska Range bathed in beautiful morning light.

I had been fighting a head cold for days but refused to let that keep me from getting out there on such a glorious morning. I spent hours hiking around taking photos of the mountain range and the spectacular fall color that in my opinion peaked that day. I was in total awe of the work of Mother Nature and finally just sat down to drink it in.

My photo barely does justice to the magnificent Denali and if you have never been there, make sure you put it on your list of places to visit. Try to spend a few days deep in the interior at Kantishna, Camp Denali or North Face Lodge (http://www.campdenali.com/) or the Wonder Lake Campground, there you have the chance (the weather doesn't always cooperate) of seeing the mountains in all their glory.
